Dhampus Peak Climbing

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from our team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in the city. You will be accommodated in a hotel of your preferred category. After check-in, you can rest or explore the bustling streets of Thamel. In the evening, there will be a short briefing about the upcoming adventure.

Today is dedicated to final preparations for the climb. In the morning, we’ll visit the Department of Tourism for an official expedition briefing and to complete the necessary permit formalities. Afterward, you'll have time for last-minute shopping—check your gear, buy any missing equipment, or pick up personal essentials from the many outdoor stores around Thamel. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore Kathmandu at your leisure.

After breakfast, we travel to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. You can choose either a scenic 7-hour drive through hills and riverside landscapes or a 25-minute flight offering panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, you'll check in at your hotel and have time to relax or enjoy an evening stroll around Phewa Lake. Overnight at a comfortable hotel in Pokhara.

After an early breakfast, we drive from Pokhara to Beni, the starting point of our trek. The drive takes about 3–4 hours along a scenic route following the Kali Gandaki River. From Beni, we begin our trek toward Tatopani, a village known for its natural hot springs. The trail gradually ascends through terraced fields, traditional villages, and lush hillsides. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot springs before settling into your lodge accommodation for the night.

Today’s trek takes you through the Kali Gandaki gorge—the world’s deepest gorge—towards the charming village of Ghasa. The trail gradually ascends through dense forests, waterfalls, and traditional settlements. You’ll witness a shift in vegetation as you climb higher, transitioning from subtropical to temperate zones. After around six hours of trekking, you’ll reach Ghasa, a peaceful village inhabited mostly by Thakali people. Overnight at a local lodge.

Leaving Ghasa behind, we continue our journey through pine and rhododendron forests, crossing several suspension bridges along the Kali Gandaki River. The trail offers stunning views of Nilgiri and the surrounding peaks. Passing through Lete and Kalopani, we gradually make our way to Larjung, a traditional Thakali village known for its unique culture and apple orchards. After about six hours of trekking, we arrive and settle into our lodge for the night.

Today’s trek is relatively easy and scenic as we make our way from Larjung to Marpha. Walking along the wide and windy Kali Gandaki valley, we pass charming villages, apple orchards, and Tibetan-style monasteries. Marpha, known as the “Apple Capital” of Nepal, is a picturesque village famous for its stone-paved alleys, whitewashed houses, and apple brandy. After around 5 hours of trekking, we reach Marpha and settle into a cozy lodge for the night.

Leaving the charming village of Marpha, we begin our ascent toward higher elevations. The trail gradually climbs through alpine terrain, with sparse vegetation and dramatic mountain scenery. As we gain altitude, the landscape becomes more rugged and remote. After about 5 hours of steady trekking, we reach Yak Kharka—a high pastureland used by local herders. Tonight, we set up camp under the stars and prepare for the challenging days ahead.

Today is a challenging yet rewarding day as we ascend to Thapa Pass (also known as Dhampus Pass), situated at an elevation of 5,244 meters. The trail climbs steadily through rugged alpine terrain, offering spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and other snow-capped peaks. As we approach the pass, the air gets thinner, and the landscape turns into a high mountain wilderness. After about 6 hours of trekking, we reach the pass and set up camp for the night in this breathtaking high-altitude setting.

Today is the highlight of the expedition — the climb to the summit of Thapa Peak (Dhampus Peak) at 6,012 meters. The ascent involves careful trekking over steep snow and rocky sections using crampons and an ice axe. From the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After celebrating the achievement, we descend to Kalopani (3,930m), enjoying the changing landscapes along the way. Overnight stay at a comfortable tea house in Kalopani.

Today, you can either trek or take a vehicle from Kalopani back down to Tatopani. The route descends through beautiful valleys and traditional villages. Once in Tatopani, relax and rejuvenate your muscles by soaking in the natural hot springs, well known for their healing properties. Overnight stay at a comfortable tea house in Tatopani.

Today, we drive from Tatopani to Beni, then continue to Pokhara. Enjoy the scenic journey through the Kali Gandaki valley and lush landscapes. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you will check into your hotel and relax after the trek. Overnight stay at a comfortable hotel in Pokhara.

Today, you will travel back to Kathmandu. You have the option to take a scenic tourist bus, which takes approximately seven hours, or choose a quick 25-minute flight. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check into your hotel and relax after the journey. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Today, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. Alternatively, if you wish, you can choose to join other trekking or cultural programs to further explore Nepal. Our team will be happy to assist you with any arrangements.
