Makalu Expedition

50 Days 49 Nights

Mt. Makalu, standing at 8,463 meters, is the fifth highest mountain in the world and instantly recognizable by its distinctive pyramid shape. Unlike Everest, Makalu is considered more technical, requiring serious climbing experience, strong teamwork, and reliable logistical support—making it a true challenge for seasoned mountaineers.

The expedition begins with a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, followed by a four-hour jeep ride to the trailhead. From there, the trek to Base Camp is adventurous and scenic, with steep climbs, deep descents, and multiple river crossings. Though the route was once remote and without facilities, many villages now offer basic lodges—there’s even a simple lodge at Base Camp.
